FAQs

Why was independent vo!ce created?

Independent and interested voters all across the county are searching for a place where they can be informed, engaged and empowered. A place to learn from others, connect to take action, and find ways to make a difference. It has yet to exist - like this, until now.

Why is civic participation so important to our representative democracy?

A representative democracy is not a spectator sport. In The Republic, Plato stated that “The heaviest penalty for declining to rule is to be ruled by someone inferior to yourself.” Similar to idea that if you think “I could do it better” - instead of complaining about what is happening - find a way and participate, and like Ghandi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Why should you become a member of the independent vo!ce network?

Members of our network engage in monthly virtual meetings that aim to form relationships, share ideas, strategize and ultimately inspire actions needed to support the greater movement for independent leadership throughout the United States.

What is the pygmailon effect and what does it have to do with the independent vo!ce network?

The pygmalion effect occurs when someone believes in you more than you believe in yourself resulting in you gaining confidence and having greater success. It is a psychological phenomenon that could very well be the result of you becoming a member of our network!
